Steve Brinson, a farmer and keen investor from Cross near Cheddar, was recently saved from financial disaster when he decided to opt for mechanical proof over well meant advice; proof being in the form of our new state of-the-art Power Predictor, a device developed for assessing the viability of wind and solar renewable energies.
Steve had invited an 'expert' to look at his land and assess its viability for a new wind turbine – his key to a rich green future – for a 'nominal fee'. The expert took a cursory tour of Steve’s land and stated, without any further testing, that it was "perfect for his investment". Being an astute business man though, Steve decided to enlist the help of Kip Hansford Limited, one company that specialises in the erection and maintenance of the new Power Predictor. Kip's company was able to provide the information and support that Steve needed to make an informed decision about his investment. Unfortunately the results proved the site unsuitable but therefore saved him the cost of a £50,000 wind turbine. As shown below, Steve's average wind speed came to 3.52m/s, whereas a figure of 5m/s or above would have been more favourable in order to maximise wind energy generation. For the purposes of the photo, the mast height was reduced from 10m to the 2m height shown, in order to give a close up of the pole rather than a line across the back drop. 
Thankfully this was not the end of the road for Steve’s green vision. The Power Predictor also has a very nifty solar radiation sensor which has provided enough information for Steve to make future investments in solar panels.
