The MARC Twister 1kW, made by German company MARC Power GmbH is a vertical axis wind turbine, using a twisted helical design similar to that used by the Turby and the Quiet Revolution qr5. Information is scant at this time - pricing information is not currently given on their website. However, it looks like a well engineered turbine compared to many at the prototype stage.

The graph below shows the typical power produced (in Watts) for the MARC 1kW at different wind speeds.

wind turbine blade diameterBlade diameter is an important thing to look at when comparing turbines, since it affects how much power can be captured from the wind. This turbine has a blade diameter of 1.90 metres.

wind turbine anemometerHow windy? If you are thinking of buying a MARC 1kW, we'd advise measuring your wind resource first. Not just because we sell anemometers but it means you will have a much better idea of how much power you might generate.

our view

Looks like a slick machine but no evidence of proper commercialisation yet or any machines in situ. We wonder how many of these have been sold...
