This small and durable turbine is ideal for low energy marine applications such as charging batteries for engine starting, navigation equipment or electrical appliance generation. Rutland turbines seem a popular choice for boat owners and are a common sight in marinas as their minimal noise and low wind speed startups are attractive qualities.

The graph below shows the typical power produced (in Watts) for the Rutland 913 at different wind speeds. This turbine produces roughly 24 Watts power at wind speeds of 5m/s and can produce up to 300 Watts of power at high wind speeds.
