The Wren is part of the family of Samrey turbines, the others being the Mistral and the Merlin. It is billed as being very easy to install, even for the occasional DIYer, but is also available via professional installer companies. All the parts, bar a few nuts and bolts, are manufactured in the UK. The generator is a three-phase permanent magnet alternator. Marketed as being suitable for tower and roof mounting, with kits available for either. An 'extreme' version of the Wren is also available which has more rugged components designed for harsh marine environments. samrey wren power output curveThe graph below shows the typical power produced (in Watts) for the Samrey Wren at different wind speeds. No data available for wind speeds above 18 metres per second. For now we are assuming no output at these speeds, although this may not be the case. Blade diameter is an important thing to look at when comparing turbines, since it affects how much power can be captured from the wind. This turbine has a blade diameter of 1.00 metres. How windy? If you are thinking of buying a Samrey Wren, we'd advise measuring your wind resource first. Not just because we sell anemometers but it means you will have a much better idea of how much power you might generate.our viewWe have no direct experience of this machine as yet. Feel free to post your reviews or views below. The output graph may seem modest compared to other turbines profiled on this website, but Samrey tells us "They are not derived from wind tunnel testing nor are in any way optimum. If you compare our power curves with most of the opposition you will see that they are modest (to put it mildly), but give a much fairer picture of the output that can be expected". We like this honest approach. Please do bear in mind that all power outputs on this site are derived from the curves published by the manufacturers. Until proper independent testing is completed, we have to trust what they say! UK grants available? No warrantyTwo years limited warranty available. available voltages12 Volt • 24 Volt comments (0)
