Italian-made vertical axis wind turbine, one of a series of sizes from 300W to 20kW.

This is the 1kW model. It has a relatively low start-up windspeed and is apparently noiseless. The manufacturer's website is fairly bereft of technical details but we seek more. There is what seems to be a clever power calculator spreadsheet but it is worded all in Italian.

The Ropatec 1kW has a blade diameter of 1.80 metres. This is all important when comparing wind turbines, since it directly relates to the amount of passing wind energy the turbine blades can intercept.

The graph below shows the power produced (in watts) for the Ropatec 1kW at different wind speeds, based on data supplied by the manufacturer.

The green line shows the actual output that the wind turbine achieves at the given wind speed, according to the manufacturers.

While these graphs give an indication of the instantaneous power and efficiencies you might expect from the Ropatec 1kW turbine, working out annual power production is more complex.
