The Windgen 1000 is a German-made vertical axis turbine aimed at the domestic market,
It is not widely available in the UK at this time. If the inverter is purchased with the turbine, it should be possible to feed electricity into the grid. The vertical axis design is said to be quieter than horizontal axis and could therefore is a better choice for areas where noise pollution is an issue.

Swept area
The Windgen1000 has a blade diameter of 1.30 metres. This is all important when comparing wind turbines, since it directly relates to the amount of passing wind energy
the turbine blades can intercept.
Windgen1000 power output curve
The graph below shows the power produced (in watts) for the Windgen1000 at different wind speeds, based on
data supplied by the manufacturer.

The green line shows the actual output that the wind turbine achieves at the given wind speed,
according to the manufacturers.
While these graphs give an indication of the instantaneous power and efficiencies you might expect from the
Windgen1000 turbine, working out annual power production is more complex.

Power output
The rated output is 1000 Watts however output can reach up to 1200 Watts in higher winds.
Cost
The core cost of the Windgen1000 is £3,700 including VAT however Windgen do not supply towers or supports, these are left to the buyer to purchase. The diameter of the rod adaptor is 53 mm internally.
For an extra £540 the pack includes an inverter switching the output voltage to 240V enabling the generator to pump back into the grid.
