Windsave is no longer
Posted by: Richard Musi
We've been receiving a fair few questions about the status of Windsave, so we wanted to clarify: on 4th September 2009 the Scottish company went into liquidation, and thus no longer exists.
Chief Executive David Gordon was quick to blame someone else: "What the Government is doing is appalling. We could not expand because of the planning rules".
Since its birth in 2003, Windsave has attempted some dubious promotion methods, which mainly focused on the effectiveness of wind turbines in crowded urban areas. First we saw Photoshopped turbines mounted on urban houses, then came the impossibly generous power curves in these said areas, and lastly the misleading comments boasting about how Windsave turbines are an "easy and affordable option for almost every home" (taken from their B&Q leaflet).
I say misleading because if your premises are in a large urban area, and especially if you are surrounded by other houses and tall trees, then your turbine is not going to produce much power. It may be "easy", it may even be "affordable", but if you're not in a windy place you will see little return on investment. If you are unsure about the wind capabilities of your premises, find out about a product that could help.
P.S. According to the British Wind Energy Association, there are 17 other manufacturers of micro wind turbines still in business, which can be found in our turbine database.

How do those of us with Windsave turbines get help when they breakdown - as ours has?
... written by George Jones , May 26, 2010
Unfortunately Mr David Gordon transferred a lot of funds whilst not paying his former staff to whom he owes thousands, his suppliers who he owes millions to to his new turbine company Windsave Holdings, same kit, same name, same rouge. He is still a member of the BWEA which has to be criticized considering all the lies about performance of the original Windsave. Keep well clear of this company and product that burns more on stand by than it will ever produce in energy. A good example of his lies are the BBC news cast he made stating Windsave had a £19 million South African deal, no such thing, ask his former staff, he was trying to procure money out of the city at that time . Be warned
